The RCT of TKA Decision Aid was implemented by integrating with REDCap. This has overcome any privacy and security concerns since all patient identifiable information is retained only on the host hospital servers while DECIDE is hosted on separate servers. Individuals are sent an email through REDCap containing the link to TKA Decision Aid, which is accessed through the REDCap API. Any information entered on TKA Decision Aid is sent back to the REDCap fields through the API including a link to the final summary page. Nothing that is identifiable to the patient is stored on the TKA Decision Aid server - just an deidentified ID - but everything is stored on the host REDCap server. This has been an efficient and safe way to quickly integrate TKA Decision Aid.
